Democracy to Iraq ?                    March 2003
When looking at American interventions in Vietnam, Somalia or Afghanistan - just to name the most important ones - they always justify the war by "bringing Democracy" to these countries, or to stop spreading of hostile ideologies (communism, Islamic fundamentalism). These interventions were always ended by large scale destruction of the targeted country, killings of thousands of innocent people that they claimed to "save from oppression", and the mess they left had to be cleaned up by local population: "the natives"...

Now, as a Jewish Israeli citizen I feel that my turn is coming. Sheer interests, games of honor and power bring the Bush gang to war in Iraq. I have no reason to believe that it will finish on different way than all the rest of American interventions were along the last three decades. The main difference is, that here this aggression will stir up all the Middle East and in the bottom line will endanger the very existence of the only non-Moslem country of this area: my country - Israel.

The Americans will leave once again a great mess - and we, the "natives" will have to eat it up! And finally what makes me really mad, is that "thanks" to the Bush gang's policy, a bloody murderer like Saddam Hussein became an international hero of freedom...
